We are broadly interested in how the brain changes over development and in individual differences (including disability) in brain organization. Research in the lab is focused on the neural basis of: (1) reading and language, (2) mathematical cognition, (3) scientific reasoning and (4) cross-cultural differences. This position involves implementing experiments, participant recruitment, cognitive testing, collecting neuroimaging data, data management and analysis, supervision of undergraduate assistants and/or administrative duties. Job requires a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of research experience or the equivalent, and will require some evening and weekend hours. The MSS Developmental Mechanisms Program is a translational research program at the interface of developmental and clinical science, with central emphasis on emergent disruptive behavior pathways. Housing multiple NIH-funded studies, the program is nationally recognized for generating novel paradigms to measure early childhood disruptive behavior and elucidating prenatal and its neurodevelopmental mechanisms and prevention. We are seeking an energetic and highly collaborative developmental scientist with scientific training and expertise in developmentally-sensitive measurement, early childhood disruptive behavior and/or pre-postnatal mechanisms of developmental psychopathology. The candidate should have scientific and management training/experience in longitudinal developmental research and program development. The Assistant Director will work closely with Dr. Wakschlag in leading and overseeing program activities and operations as a member of the faculty of the Department of Medical Social Sciences.
