Grade 6: £28,098 - £33,518 p.a. Applications are invited for a Research Assistant in Machine Learning in Functional Neuroimaging to work on the Wellcome Trust funded project “‘Exploring the mechanisms of distributed spontaneous brain activity”. This project uses a combination of MRI, M/EEG / LFP recordings, methods development and biophysical modeling to advance understanding of spontaneous whole-brain activity at faster timescales than previously considered, and provide new insights into the underlying mechanisms. This research will be conducted within the Oxford Centre for Human Brain Activity (OHBA) Analysis Group headed by Mark Woolrich and based at OHBA, as part of the Wellcome centre for Integrative Neuroimaging (WIN), and collaborating with Maarten De Vos at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME). You will be based at the Department of Psychiatry, Warneford Hospital, Oxford. The post is for a fixed term (funded for two years). You will be expected to research new machine learning for describing the nature of large-scale brain networks from neuroimaging data, while contributing to the management of the research program. You will be expected to work independently to produce research of international standard, and also to cooperate with other members of the research group, and collaborators in Oxford and abroad. There may be an opportunity to undertake a PhD, provided you meet the necessary criteria You will have a BSc degree in a relevant technical area, physics, maths, engineering, neuroscience, or a closely related discipline; and have a demonstrable interest in the relevant machine learning methods or computational neuroscience. Excellent mathematical and programming skills (preferably MATLAB), and experience of working on technical research in technical work environments are essential. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement and a CV as part of your application.
