the Association of Black Psychologists
The Association of Black Psychologists was founded in San Francisco in 1968 by a number of Black Psychologists from across the country. They united to actively address the serious problems facing Black Psychologists and the larger Black community. Guided by the principle of self determination, these psychologists set about building an institution through which they could address the long neglected needs of Black professionals. Their goal was to have a positive impact upon the mental health of the national Black community by means of planning, programs, services, training, and advocacy. Their objectives were:

Individuals just starting their professional life within ten years of graduating from a graduate or undergraduate program may apply for the Early Career Professional NLPA membership. Ten years after graduating from an undergraduate/graduate institution, the individual must apply for the Professional NLPA membership.

Students

The American Arab, Middle Eastern, and North African Psychological Association (AMENA-Psy) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation dedicated to the development of Arab/MENA psychologists and psychological research and interventions in North America. The organization welcomes anyone interested in American Arab/MENA psychological issues. The word “amena” comes from the Arabic root a-ma-na which relates to honesty, fairness, faithfulness, safety, and peace. We strive to carry those values in our organization’s work.
