This is a great opportunity for GMU students for interested in working with a friendly, very sweet, high-functioning 17 year-old teen with special needs and anxiety. He responds well to encouragement and prompting through his morning routine. The position involves assisting his mother in motivating and encouraging her son in the mornings, as he independently gets ready for school. We already have a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) working with our family and she would provide consultation to the GMU student.
This position is perfect for college students since it provides real world experience and the early hours will not interfere with college classes. The family is prepared to be flexible with hours, which are generally only 2 hours a day from 6:30am to 8:30am Monday through Friday mornings. If you like video games, that is a bonus, since playing with our son could be a reward for his getting ready on time. (If you don’t like video games, that’s ok too.) The family home is conveniently close to GMU (about a 10 minute drive). Salary is competitive and is negotiable depending upon experience. The ideal applicant will like to work with teens and have an interest in psychology, autism, or anxiety.
