Hispanic Center - Grant Announcement, Bilingual Data Collector Recruitment, & the March for Science3/23/2017 Dear SRCD Latino Caucus Members: SRCD members will be participating in the March for Science in Washington DC on April 22, 2017. The Latino Caucus is excited to announce that we will award funding support for two SRCD Latino Caucus members to attend this event and represent our Caucus at this momentous March. Award Details: 1. You must be an active member of the SRCD Latino Caucus. 2. One award is to support student/early career members (according to SRCD membership guidelines). 3. The second award is to support regular/emeritus members (according to SRCD membership guidelines). 4. Each award is a reimbursement of up to $1,000 to cover lodging and one roundtrip airline ticket to/from the March. Expectations of Award Recipients: 1. Volunteer for an hour at the March for Science Table at SRCD 2017 to help promote the March. 2. March and represent the caucus with signage (e.g., homemade t-shirt, signs). 3. Submit photos of you at the March with SRCD Latino Caucus signage. 4. Write a blog post about your March experience for the SRCD Latino Caucus Website within 30 days of the trip. Applications: 1. Write a statement (300 words max) noting the relevance of the March to your professional interests and to mission of the SRCD Latino Caucus (found here: http://latinocaucus.srcd.org/about-us/our-mission/). 2. On a separate page, provide the estimated flight and hotel expenses and a statement affirming your commitment (financial and personal) to attend the March. 3. Bilingual Data Collector Abt Associates and our partners at Westat and the Catholic University of America have been contracted by the Administration for Children and Families in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to conduct a nationally-representative study of the Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) program that will fill the gaps in current knowledge. The study will describe the characteristics of children and families enrolled in MSHS, as well as MSHS program practices and services. It also will be the first national MSHS study to include direct child assessments, which will provide valuable info about the development of MSHS children.
