Good afternoon:
I am reaching out as an alum of GMU's undergrad in psychology program and Master's in Education program. The organization that I work for, Autism Outreach, is seeking students who would be interested in implementing programs for our clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder ages 2-22. The positions offer complete flexibility and hours can change as needed when semesters and class schedules change. The students can work as few as 2 hours per week or as many as 20. We do in home and center based and run social groups for different ages on Saturdays. I wanted to make you aware of our needs, in case you have any students who might be interested. They would be welcome to contact me on my cell or email me their resume at anytime. The need is ongoing as we are constantly getting kiddos referred to us. Thank you for your time and feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have, as well. Leslie -- Leslie S. We are looking for a great part-time, live-out nanny (7:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) for 1 fantastic and fun little girl with Down syndrome in Vienna, VA. She is extremely active and loves being outside, playing, reading, exploring, and dancing. The job would include some light housekeeping in her spaces, laundry help for her, grocery/errand runs, taking her to music and dance classes, and drop off at school. We are looking for someone who likes being active, encourages reading and communication, and enjoys arts and crafts, music, and dancing. It would be great if the person is a nonsmoker, CPR/first aid certified, and has some experience working with children with special needs. The position starts Jan. 2, 2018. Interested people can email me directly at [email protected].
I am looking for a care attendant for my 16 year old daughter, Sophie, who has Down syndrome. I need someone to walk her home at 2:50pm when she gets out of school and stay until 6pm. There is the possibility of more hours on weekends, some evenings or as respite care. We literally live across the street from her school, W.T. Woodson HS. We are 3 miles or less from GMU main campus. We can be somewhat flexible and are looking more for a companion that can oversee homework, provide social interaction and oversight with cooking guidance for simple meals to promote independence in this area. Our daughter is tech savvy and very talkative. She does have ADHD and anxiety issues, but is not an escape risk and handles her own dressing, toileting and grooming needs. Must like pets as we have 3 dogs and a cat. Pay is through the commonwealth and is $11.93 per hour. Attendants must be 18 years old, be able to pass a background check and prove US citizenship. There is some paperwork to be filled out as well. My daughter is a lot of fun and does like down time on her own so there is some ability to study at times while watching her, but we do want to hire someone who primarily likes interacting with teens and may even like to accompany our daughter to a gym or exercise classes. Having a car is not necessary though if the attendant can walk, bike or take a bus to our house, My daughter loves music and her Spotify and Netflix accounts. She also likes to draw and sing. Her favorite way to listen to music is to see the words while listening to the music. She reads fourth grade chapter books, but struggles with math, money transactions and knowing how much time has passed. Two older sisters are available at times over the holidays to fill in as attendants so again there is flexibility. If you know of students who may like working with us, they can reach me at 571-205-3651 or [email protected]. Thanks! Maureen Hello! I have 3 wonderful children, a son in Kindergarten and twin girls in pre-school, and we are looking for someone to take care of them in the evenings 4 to 5 days a week. It would require picking them up from school and daycare around 4:30pm and bringing them home, playing with them, feeding them dinner, bath time and getting them ready for bed. My husband or I usually get home from work between 7:30/8:30pm. We are looking for a reliable, loving and caring individual that is fond of children and dogs (we have a westie). We live in Alexandria VA, and the kids are all in school/daycare in Old Town. We pay our current after school nanny $20/hr. If you have any interest please email me at[email protected]. Thank you!
