We are looking for a responsible, energetic individual who is interested in working with our son who has cerebral palsy.
Donald is 20 years old and a junior in high school. He is full of life and loves adventure. He is currently on the OPHS cheer leading team, a weekend power wheelchair soccer team and he loves running and being outside. He has many hobbies/interests. Donald is in a powered wheel chair that he controls with his left foot. Although he is mostly nonverbal, he is very effective in communicating his needs/wants. Donald requires an attendant who is willing to assist him in almost all daily living skills and activities. Responsibilities would include meeting Donald at his bus stop after school, assisting him in using the restroom, giving him snack and drink, assisting him when eating dinner, occasionally assisting with bathing and help completing his laundry and straightening up his room. In addition, Donald wants mainly someone to have fun with and pursue his hobbies and interests! We will train the applicant to work with Donald and his disabilities. The hours are approximately 2-7 pm, Monday–Friday and the end time is negotiable. This can be a part time job or we can offer more hours, up to 35/hrs a week. You do not have to commit to a specific amount, we are flexible! Compensation is $11.90/hr and the attendant would be paid through a Medicaid approved agency (PPL). Interested individuals please email Hope Harms at [email protected]
