Donald is 20 years old and a junior in high school. He is full of life and loves adventure. He is currently on the OPHS cheer leading team, a weekend power wheelchair soccer team and he loves running and being outside. He has many hobbies/interests. Donald is in a powered wheel chair that he controls with his left foot. Although he is mostly nonverbal, he is very effective in communicating his needs/wants. Donald requires an attendant who is willing to assist him in almost all daily living skills and activities. Responsibilities would include meeting Donald at his bus stop after school, assisting him in using the restroom, giving him snack and drink, assisting him when eating dinner, occasionally assisting with bathing and help completing his laundry and straightening up his room. In addition, Donald wants mainly someone to have fun with and pursue his hobbies and interests! We will train the applicant to work with Donald and his disabilities. The hours are approximately 2-7 pm, Monday–Friday and the end time is negotiable. This can be a part time job or we can offer more hours, up to 35/hrs a week. You do not have to commit to a specific amount, we are flexible! Compensation is $11.90/hr and the attendant would be paid through a Medicaid approved agency (PPL). Andrea Seeking energetic, animal friendly FEMALE to help our non-verbal Autistic 17 year old daughter (Claire). Afternoon hours will be from 3-5:30 pm 2-5 days a week. Parents have flexibility with hours and may be able to flex around caregiver's availability. Week-end hours typically are from 11 am - 4pm - but can vary them to caregivers availability. May require food prep and clean-up. Social outings like going to a restaurant, park, pool are encouraged over the week-ends once caregivers and Claire are comfortable. He is very gentle and loving, and would benefit from someone to chat with him while I get things done around the house.
