LAB COORDINATOR, COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT LAB AND REASONING & DECISION MAKING LAB, WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY2/9/2017 The Cognitive Development Lab, directed by Dr. Hilary Barth, and the Reasoning & Decision Making Lab, directed by Dr. Andrea Patalano, both at Wesleyan University, announce a full-time lab coordinator position starting September 2017. The lab coordinator’s duties will be split 80:20 across the two labs. The lab coordinator will assist with studies on the development of numerical/spatial thinking and decision making in preschool and school-aged children and adults, as well as other general duties in the labs.
Duties include coordinating relationships with local research sites such as schools and children’s museums; hiring and supervision of undergraduate research assistants; recruiting and scheduling participants; maintaining a participant database; data entry and record keeping; running participants through studies; literature searches; and assisting with the preparation of conference abstracts, manuscripts, and grants. The lab coordinator will have the opportunity to be directly involved in research, earn authorship on a paper, and attend research conferences. Key qualifications include a BA in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field; prior research experience (experimental child development experience preferred); exceptional flexibility, organizational skills, communication skills, and attention to detail; general computer skills and statistical software experience (Microsoft Office suite; SPSS); and intellectual interest in our research areas.
