ECEI Post-Doctoral Fellow: This position offers collaborative and independent research opportunities at the Early Childhood Education Institute (ECEI) at The University of Oklahoma-Tulsa. It is an opportunity to join an existing research group dedicated to applied research in early childhood education, with a special focus on birth through age 3 populations and settings. The major responsibilities include conceptualizing research questions based on ECEI’s existing data, analyzing data, preparing manuscripts suitable for publication in leading journals, collaborating with ECEI staff and affiliates in preparing proposals for external funding and responding to RFPs. Successful candidate will lead and/or work closely with interdisciplinary staff/faculty/and student research teams in all aspect of research. Salary is $50,000 per year. Full benefits. The Infant and Child Studies Consortium at the University of Maryland, College Park is seeking a Recruitment Specialist to enhance recruitment of area families for research participation. This one-year position will begin in May or early June 2017. This is a full-time position with benefits. The ICS Consortium is a group of labs conducting research in developmental science at the University of Maryland, College Park. Individual labs are housed in the Psychology, Human Development and Quantitative Methodology, Linguistics, and Hearing and Speech Sciences departments. Top candidates will have training and/or experience in marketing or public relations; most importantly, applicants should be prepared to think creatively about ways to increase family signups for research participation. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and they must feel equally comfortable interacting with heads of area organizations, parents, and small children. Experience with website design, multimedia development, and database management is a plus. Research experience or studies in developmental science or related fields would be ideal, but these are not required. The minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor’s degree. Georgetown’s Department of Psychology is home to a diverse and collaborative community of scholars who conduct research in psychology, neuroscience, and public policy, and who teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Research by Faculty in the Department of Psychology - from basic science investigations of behavior and brain function to applications for public policy - is directed at Georgetown University’s goal of creating and communicating knowledge in the service of the common good. Our Undergraduate Program offers a Major and a Minor in Psychology and provides a variety of opportunities for scholarship and extracurricular enrichment. We are seeking a highly motivated Ph.D. researcher to contribute to research as a Research Associate in the areas of socioeconomic disadvantage, urbanicity, early care and education, and human development across the life span. The applicant will work on several studies in these areas funded by NICHD, NSF, and private foundation support that are being conducted in the Child Development Across Context Lab at the University of Pittsburgh. This position involves analyzing data from several large, nationally representative studies of child development including the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study birth and kindergarten cohort studies (https://nces.ed.gov/ecls/) and the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth -1979 (https://www.bls.gov/nls/nlsy79.htm) to better understand how socioeconomic status shapes development over the life course and identify mechanisms driving the intergenerational transmission of socioeconomic disadvantage. This position will also require work with administrative data from several federal sources including the Decennial Census, the American Community Survey, Toxic Release Inventory, and the FBI Crime Database. The Research Associate will work under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Votruba-Drzal in the Department of Psychology in the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. This position offers the opportunity to work in a high quality research environment with strong collaborations with local and national world-renowned researchers. We seek an exceptional Ph.D. researcher with a degree in psychology, demography, or epidemiology with extensive experience analyzing large, nationally representative data. Advanced data analytic skills are necessary in regression, structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, and GIS methods. Prior experience working with administrative data is necessary as is knowledge in human development, poverty, urbanicity, and early care and education. Strength in writing, organizational skills, research methods, and demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through and communicate effectively with colleagues and students are necessary. The Research Associate position is a senior staff-level full-time appointment in support of research and scholarship. The appointment is renewable and is not viewed as preparation for another position. Specific duties for this position will be to perform extensive coding of individual and geospatial data, analyze data to address research questions, and provide consultation and supervision to post-docs and students in the lab. There will be opportunities to remain active in publishing and co-authoring manuscripts and to present research at national and international meetings. The start date is June 1, 2017. Applicants should be willing to commit to a minimum two-year appointment.
