Position Available at the University of Virginia:
Curry School of Education and Youth-Nex Center RCT Methodology, Research Assistant/Associate Professor, Non-Tenure Track Patrick Tolan and Catherine Bradshaw are excited to announce they are seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor level colleague to join the Youth-Nex Center and the Curry School of Education to focus on intervention methodology and analyses. This is a non-tenure research line funded initially by UVA strategic investment funds with the intent of enabling an entrepreneurial and innovative professional to establish a program of research on some aspect of randomized trials and related intervention methods while working in collaboration with Professors Tolan and Bradshaw and other researchers on current and forthcoming sponsored research projects. The Curry School houses multiple research centers (e.g. Youth-Nex, CASTL, Ed-Policy Works) and doctoral training programs (e.g. Educational Psychology-Applied Developmental Science and Clinical and School Psychology) that emphasize intervention studies. Many faculty conduct randomized trials and related longitudinal efforts. In addition, the Research, Statistics, and Evaluation program has faculty with expertise in other approaches to intervention and with complimentary research programs. We seek an energetic early- or mid-career researcher who is interested in taking advantage of the rich resource of multiple randomized prevention and educational intervention studies to pursue a program of research related to issues in analyzing randomized trials, longitudinally embedded trials, multi-level trials, group randomized trials, mediation models in randomized trials moderation tests within the randomized trial framework and/or other topics to advance quality and capability of knowledge obtained from this approach to interventions. Thus, in addition to collaborating with Tolan, Bradshaw, and others on grants, publications, and study proposals, the successful candidate will be prepared to pursue a funded program of study in some aspect of methods and data analysis within the RCT framework. This position is expected to begin on or soon after July 1, 2017. Appointment will be as Assistant or Associate Professor within the Department of Human Services in the Curry School of Education, with primary affiliation with the Youth-Nex Center to Promote Effective Youth Development.
